We both truly appreciated it! Connie Update from the Commercial Appeal (Memphis Newspaper) Newsman covered life, career of Elvis Columnist wrote books on Presley, published magazine Bill E. Burk was a newspaperman with a front row seat for the life and career of Elvis Presley who later kept the King alive in books and a magazine. Mr. Burk, 75, died Thursday following a heart attack. During the last 20 years of Presley's life, Mr. Burk, a columnist for the Memphis Press-Scimitar until it closed in 1983, wrote roughly 400 stories and columns about the King's life. And over the last 20 years he published 13 Elvis books and the quarterly Elvis World magazine. The latest issue of the magazine was published in February and Mr. Burk's wife, Connie, said it would likely be the last. "He's such a gifted writer it wouldn't be the same without him," she said. Mr. Burk lived one minute from Graceland and at times visited the entertainer there. Every so often Presley would return the gesture with a visit to Mr. Burk's home. Mr. Burk, a native Memphian who was also a international pilot and standout athlete in three sports, uncovered plenty of Elvis photos and stories, particularly from his early days. "The Elvis I have come to know in talking to scores of his friends, classmates, teachers and neighbors since 1985 have greatly deepened my knowledge of Elvis and today I find I admire the man much more than I did during those 20 years we were neighbors," Mr. Burk said in a recent column on the Elvis Information Network. Mr. Burk, nicknamed "007" because of the way he signed his last name, said he always enjoyed the thrill of the investigation, unearthing those personal moments with greatness that so many Memphians shared. "He enjoyed the hunt," said Mrs. Burk. Mr. Burk was given the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau Tourism Award in 1980. He was the first journalist to win the award that honors supporters of the tourism industry in Memphis. He was also twice named United Press International Columnist of the Year in Tennessee. "He was a great friend to Elvis fans and a respected journalist who covered Elvis for a number of years," said Kevin Kern, spokesman for Elvis Presley Enterprises. Burk is also survived by two sons, Gary and Randy, and his daughter, Jennifer. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Avenue, with burial later in the week at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family asks that any memorials be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,stjude.org.

PRISCILLA~~ELVIS WOULD BE PROUD & SO ARE WE!

    Update~~Todd Morgan
I thought you all would like to see "William Todd Morgan's" Obituary.

Saturday, March 17, 1962 in the eastern Arkansas town of Brinkley, Arkansas, a baby boy was born to Janice and Harvey Morgan, Jr. Thus began life’s 45 year journey for William “Todd” Morgan. Todd spend his youth growing up around the farming community of Clarendon. In 1980 he graduated from Clarendon High School with honors and continued his education at the University of Mississippi, graduating in 1984 with a Bachelors degree in Marketing. In May of 1983 Todd began working for the Elvis Presley Enterprises, as a tour guide at Graceland. Over the years he would work his way through management in the entertainment division, and later became the Director of Special Projects. Blessed with a talent for creativity, and the ability to make words say beautiful things, Todd became the face and voice of the Elvis Presley legacy. Friends and fellow workers say he was the very best tour guide Graceland ever had. He became a walking encyclopedia, with knowledge about Elvis; everything from lines in his movies, dates and history on all of Elvis’s music. Todd was in charge of local publicity, media creative resources, and met with the celebrities who came to Graceland. Talented as a speech writer, he wrote speeches for Priscilla, Lisa Marie and the staff of Graceland. His proudest professional accomplishment was the Elvis Live Concert, which was his concept and development. It was first preformed in the mid 90’s, and toured extensively all over the world. It can be see on the educational channels and was last preformed at the annual Elvis Week during the 30th anniversary of his death. Todd was also very active in the Memphis community. He supported the Memphis Art and Music scene for Rock-n-Roll to the Blues; was involved with the Memphis Humane Society as well as other animal charities. He supported, both personally and professionally, the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association, “Little Kids Rock” and was a steward of the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation. A fair and generous person, Todd believed in giving young people opportunities, always supporting and encouraging them in their careers. A special project he was involved with was Sound Fuzion, a singing group at the University of Memphis. On Saturday, March 1, 2008 at his home in Memphis, God called Todd home. His leaving has left a void in the lives of his family and many friends. Best said in his beloved Elvis’s song, “I did it my way,” Todd did it his way, and left his own legacy of beautiful memories for all who loved and knew him. Autopsy Reports Are Still Pending..

Graceland's longtime public voice found dead By Jody Callahan (Contact) Sunday, March 2, 2008
It is with much sadness that I must pass this news on to all of you. Please read the following from the EPE site & The Commercial Appeal.

Todd Morgan, the public face of Graceland for more than a decade, was found dead in his East Memphis home Sunday morning. Early indications, friends said, point to a massive heart attack, although an autopsy is planned. Morgan, director of special projects for Elvis Presley Enterprises, was 45. "We've lost a great friend and a great part of the Graceland family," said Jack Soden, chief executive officer of Elvis Presley Enterprises. Friends became concerned when Morgan failed to show for dinner Saturday night. They called, but got no answer. When Morgan's friends couldn't reach him Sunday morning, they went to his home and saw him on the floor through a window. Firefighters forced entry into the house on Chickasaw and found Morgan collapsed in his bedroom. It appeared he'd died sometime early Saturday afternoon, Graceland public relations director Kevin Kern said. "This comes as a great shock," said Kern, who was hired by Morgan. "To lose somebody at 45, it's hard to believe." Morgan began working at Graceland in 1983 as a tour guide, driving to the Whitehaven mansion while still a student at Ole Miss, Kern said. He became familiar to fans and media from around the world as the Graceland spokesman, particularly during Elvis Week, before moving on to new roles. One of those roles, Kern said, was as a producer of Elvis projects. Morgan helped spearhead the "Elvis: Live" concerts which debuted in the early 1990s with Elvis appearing on stage via concert footage meshed with live performances by his former band members, backup singers and others. "That was his concept. He brought it to life, and the first concert sold out Radio City Music Hall," Kern said. Morgan, who grew close to Priscilla Presley, had planned to go to Los Angeles to attend a taping of her upcoming appearance on "Dancing with the Stars. Although friends said Morgan wasn't a devoted Elvis fan before coming to Graceland, that quickly changed once he began working there. "I worked with Todd for three and a half years, and he had a devotion to preserving the legacy of Elvis. He could well be Elvis' No. 1 fan," Kern said. "The Elvis world has suffered a great loss. He's an expert, and he helped shape the legacy." Added Soden: "He knew how to be a very professional, strategic and very smart steward of the legacy." Friends began gathering at Morgan's home Sunday afternoon. "He's the nicest person I've ever met," David Burton said. "He took a lot of interest in (his friends's) lives." Friends said they were unaware of any health problems Morgan might have had. Morgan was single with no children. His family began arriving in Memphis Sunday afternoon from Clarendon, Ark. Funeral arrangements were still pending. -- Jody Callahan: 529-6531

We at Graceland have suffered the loss of one of our most beloved family members. Todd Morgan passed away on Saturday at the age of 45 from what was believed to be a massive heart attack, he was found by friends at his East Memphis home Sunday morning after he didn't show up for a pre-planned gathering. Todd made a career out of Graceland, starting out as a tour guide in May of 1983 following his graduation from the University of Mississippi. In his 25 years as a faithful and loyal Elvis Presley Enterprises employee, Todd played a major part in the development of Graceland as an attraction and in the many projects produced by EPE that have allowed fans all over the world to celebrate the life and legacy of Elvis Presley. We are truly saddened by this devastating loss and will miss him dearly. Details of services have yet to be determined but we will post them as soon as we are made aware by his family.
    STATEMENT FROM LISA MARIE PRESLEY

"Todd's sudden and untimely death is a huge shock and a great loss for us personally and for EPE. He has been an incredible gift and Gem in all of the 25 years that he worked at Graceland. He was so unbelievably devoted to us, to my Father and to his job. His heart, soul and his dedication could never be replaced. This is just nothing but sad and awful for everyone, our prayers and hearts are with him and his family. He will be deeply missed." ELVIS PRESLEY ENTERPRISES, INC. P.O. Lisa Marie Presley is reportedly pregnant for the third time. Sources say the actress - the daughter of Elvis Presley - and her fourth husband Michael Lockwood have told pals they are expecting. Presley, 40, already has two teenage children, daughter Danielle Riley and son Benjamin, with her musician ex, Danny Keough. She has also been married to pop star Michael Jackson and actor Nicolas Cage. A spokeswoman for Presley said of the pregnancy reports: “[She] is not one to comment on her personal life.” Presley wed Lockwood, a guitarist and music producer, in Japan in January 2006. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, has just been unveiled as one of the 12 new contestants on American TV talent show, Dancing With The Stars. Source: ShowbizSpy.com

Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc., which is preparing for a $250 million overhaul of Graceland and the surrounding area, has bought another apartment community near Elvis Presley's former mansion in Whitehaven.EPE bought the Craft Manor apartments at 1032 Craft from Michael E. Reed for $1.575 million, but the company is remaining tight-lipped about future development of the area. "EPE Inc. continues to plan for future redevelopment of the area surrounding Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion, a National Historic Landmark," said Kevin Kern, media relations manager for EPE. EPE officials aren't saying much publicly, but they-fficials with parent company CKX, Inc. continue to refine their plans for the Graceland area and ave been in contact with the administrations of Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton and Shelby County Mayor A C Wharton, as recently as last week.Memphis City Councilman Myron Lowery, whose districtincludes Whitehaven and surrounding neighborhoods, said a little more conversation from EPE officials would be a good thing."The community wants to know more, and I told (EPE chief executive officer Jack Soden ) that several months ago and he said that would be forthcoming," Lowery said."At some point they have to make their plans public and ask for community support and ask for government support," he said. "The community is concerned, and rightfully so. On a project of this magnitude, because it's so important to the future growth and development of that area, more information should be known."Robert Lipscomb, director of the city's Division of Housing and Community Development and city point man on most largeredevelopment projects, said he has remained in touch with EPE officials. "It's moving forward, and we're excited about it because any time you get that kind of investment, particularly in that area, it's a good thing," Lipscomb said. As Robert F.X. Sillerman, the chairman and CEO of CKX, who acquired an 85 percent stake in EPE in 2005, works on plans to transform Graceland, EPE and its affiliates own or control more than 105 acres around the mansion, an area larger than the Memphis Zoo.Since January 2006, EPE companies have spent at least $13.4 million acquiring property, according to Shelby County Register Tom Leatherwood's office.Revamping Graceland will include razing the cramped visitor center -- located in a former strip mall across the street from the white-columned mansion -- and replacing it with a facility seven times the size of the mansion. The Tennessee legislature approved a bill last spring that authorizes the creation of a tourism development zone (TDZ) there, which will allow some local taxes collected within its boundaries to be used to help finance the project. The City Council supported the creation of the TDZ in November.Sillerman also plans to build new hotels, improve the public spaces around Graceland and create more convention and exhibition space to showcase the King's memorabilia.Sillerman serves as chairman and CEO of FX Real Estate and Entertainment Inc., an entertainment-oriented real estate development company that plans to pursue real estate and entertainment-based projects around the globe. FXRE has licensed from EPE the right to use Elvis Presley in the development of its real estate and entertainment projects and will "play a major role" in the redevelopment of the Graceland area, according to company filings. The existing 128-room Heartbreak Hotel will be razed and replaced by a much larger convention hotel on the mansion side of Elvis Presley Boulevard. The side of the street that is currently home to the visitor center and Heartbreak Hotel would see "more hotels, more entertainment, food and beverage, retail, kind of a village," Soden said in previous interviews. "What I've heard through the media, and not from them, has been great," said Lowery. Sillerman and Graceland officials have been working on the transformation plan for over a year.CKX was seeking a "mutual cooperation agreement" with local government for highway and utility improvements and renovation help for other businesses in the area, particularly along Elvis Presley Boulevard, the commercial strip that slices through Whitehaven's middle- and upper-middle-class neighborhoods.

    Your Birth Number?
Your Birth Date describes who you are, what you are good at and what your inborn abilities are. It also points to what you have to learn and challenges you are facing. To figure your Birth Number, add all the numbers in your Birth Date, like in the following example, until there is only one digit:
    Example: October 18, 1956
    10 + 18 + 1956 = 1984 1 + 9 + 8 + 4 = 22 2 + 2 = 4
1's are originals. Coming up with new ideas and executing them is natural.
Having things their own way is another trait that gets them labeled as being stubborn and arrogant. Ones are extremely honest and do well to learn some diplomacy skills. They like to take the initiative and are often leaders or bosses, as they like to be the best. Being self-employed is definitely helpful for them. Lesson to learn: Others' ideas might be just as good or better and to stay open minded.
2's are idealistic and need to feel useful to be happy.
A strong family connection is important to them. Their actions influence their decisions. They have a strong urge to take care of others and to help. They are very loyal and make great teachers. They like art or music. They make loyal friends who take the friendship seriously.

For more than 20 years, Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. CEO Jack Soden has kept a file on Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. The subject of his study: Walt Disney Co.'s effort to clean up and develop the real estate around the "Happiest Place on Earth." Disney so despised the jumbled development that grew up around Disneyland after it opened in 1955 that when Walt Disney World opened in Florida in 1971, the company persuaded the state to create a district around the resort that allowed Disney to oversee development.
Disney's real estate drama continues to this day: The company is suing the city of Anaheim to stop the construction of 1,500 condos near Disneyland. So what does Disney have to do with Elvis Presley's Graceland?
Since Graceland opened to the public in 1982, EPE and its affiliated companies have gone on a real estate binge, buying everything from gas stations to apartment complexes around the King of Rock and Roll's Whitehaven mansion. Dramatic improvements to the area -- the subject of a summit last week of EPE, city and county officials -- are coming, though details are sketchy.
"It took billions to fix what grew up around Disneyland in California and when they went to Florida, they bought 27,000 acres and assembled it before anyone knew," said Soden in a recent interview. "I've always thought if we make Graceland as big a draw as it can be, we are going to suffer if we don't control the doughnut of land around us."
Today, as Robert F.X. Sillerman, who paid $100 million for an 85 percent stake in EPE in 2005, works on plans to turn Graceland into an international attraction on par with Disneyland, EPE and its affiliates own or control about 105 acres around the mansion. For a little perspective, the Memphis Zoo sits on roughly 70 acres.
Since January 2006, EPE and its affiliated companies have spent at least $13.4 million acquiring property, according to Shelby County Register Tom Leatherwood's office. The properties include a 182-unit apartment complex on Craft Road behind the existing Graceland Plaza, and a former auto dealership at 3674 Elvis Presley Blvd.
Sillerman, who was in town last week to update officials on his plans for Graceland, wants to "dramatically expand" the visitors center at Graceland and expand exhibit space to showcase thousands of pieces of Elvis memorabilia that have never been seen.
Sillerman, who became a billionaire by building and selling media companies, has also indicated he could build new hotels, improve the public spaces around Graceland, create more convention space and possibly build an outdoor amphitheater. The investment could easily top $100 million and forever change the face of South Memphis.
"He put some real meat on the bones of what he had previously discussed as a concept," said Shelby County Mayor AC Wharton of the meeting. "I'll say it's comprehensive, but I can't really get into details."
On Thursday, Wharton joined Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton, Convention and Visitors Bureau president Kevin Kane, city chief financial officer Robert Lipscomb, members of the Memphis Regional Chamber and Priscilla Presley at Graceland for a closed-door meeting with Sillerman, whose firm CKX Inc. also owns the hit television show "American Idol" and an 85 percent stake in the name, image and likeness of boxing great Muhammad Ali.
Sillerman has argued that Elvis and Ali, two of the most recognizable and enduring stars of the 20th century, are underused brands.
Sillerman has already hired Orlando, Fla.-based Bob Weis Design Island Associates to improve the area around Graceland while keeping the historic home intact.
BWDI designed "Top of the Rock," the new observation deck and interactive visitor center atop Rockefeller Center in New York. BWDI has also done master planning and exhibit work for Kennedy Space Center.
When he visited Memphis last year, Sillerman indicated that cleaning up the area around Graceland was critical and that it would probably take a public/private partnership.
"We do know that the area that Graceland sits in is not the most attractive area," he said.
"We know that that needs enhancement, if you will. Beyond that, the plans aren't specifically developed enough to know what that partnership form is going to take.
"But we do know that this is not something that Elvis Presley Enterprises and the Elvis Presley family can undertake by themselves."
Since then, civic and business leaders have committed themselves to improving the area that includes Memphis International Airport, Brooks Road and Graceland.
The Brooks Corridor has become a jarring juxtaposition of decay and prosperity. Bounded by I-240, U.S. 78, Raines Road and U.S. 61, it's also home to three key industries the city wants to promote: distribution and logistics, medical device manufacturing and tourism and entertainment.
The Memphis City Council on Tuesday asked the Herenton administration to come up with a plan for a Center City Commission-like board to oversee the redevelopment within 30 days.
"It needs to be because we have around 600,000 people, for the most part getting off at the interstate at Brooks and Elvis Presley, making their way down to Graceland," said Soden. "Every step of the way they have to be going, 'Surely we're lost.'
"A lot of them have this vision of Tara and they're coming down Elvis Presley Boulevard saying, 'It can't be here.' But, you know, Graceland tends to save the day."
Real Estate fit for a king
Since Graceland opened to the public in 1982, EPE and its affiliated companies have gone on a real estate binge, buying everything from gas stations to apartment complexes around the King of Rock and Roll's Whitehaven mansion.
In 1993, EPE purchased what is now known as Graceland Plaza, the visitors center and retail area across the street from the mansion.
In 1997, EPE bought Graceland Crossing, a neighboring shopping center with stores that featured Elvis-related items, located just north of Graceland Plaza.
In 1999, EPE bought an existing hotel near Graceland and turned it into what is known today as Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel.

Tom Green was Milwaukee's consummate showman
Known for Elvis tributes, singer is dead at 50
Milwaukee's own Tom Green - who first became known for his Elvis tributes - has died.
Tom is seen here performing with The Jordanaires.

Tom Green whose given name was Thomas M. Greenblatt, died of cancer March 1. He was 50. Rumors of Green's death had circulated for days among fellow musicians and fans. Green, who began performing his Elvis show years before the singer's death, was among Milwaukee's best-known entertainers. He long performed at Summerfest, festivals, clubs, fund-raisers and other gigs. Although he still did occasional Elvis tributes, he regularly performed other music for many years, including songs by Robert Palmer, Elton John, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen. He also sang in Milwaukee's Bel Canto Chorus and was chosen to sing backup for Luciano Pavarotti when the famous Italian tenor was singing in Chicago. People may have come to his early shows because they were Elvis fans, but they came back as Tom Green fans. "Tom is such a Milwaukee treasure, an unbelievable performer who has touched a lot of people's lives," said Mike Wojciechowski, vice president of business development for the Milwaukee Admirals. "We've had Tom on many, many times to sing the national anthem." Wojciechowski's best memory, though, was a personal one after he was drafted to sing at a friend's wedding. Green decided to help, coaching his non-singer friend for four hours. "Then he showed up on the wedding day and went right into the choir loft and sat by me," Wojciechowski said. "You can do it," Green said. "And I knew that if I couldn't, he would have taken over and belted it out," he said. "He sang, 'Ave Maria,' and 'Memories' at my dad's funeral, too." In interviews over the years, Green talked about growing up on Milwaukee's north side and his early fascination with Elvis Presley. The youngest of four children, he started imitating Elvis when he was only 4, listening as his older brother and sisters played their records. Then he saw the King on television. "I was floored," Green later said. "I couldn't believe someone could be so cool." By the early 1970s, Green stood out at Washington High School, with his slicked-back hair and his shirt collars up. Once in a civics class, the teacher began describing the styles of the 1950s. "And he stopped in mid-lecture and said, 'Well, they looked just like Tom Green back there,' " he recalled. "I must've turned every shade of purple." Fate put Green in front of a microphone for the first time in 1974. Then a student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he was also a bartender at Olympic Lanes on the south side. His brother, Bud, said he should sing during an open-mic time. "I didn't think I could sing," Green said. "My brother said, 'Just sing like you do at home.' So, I went up and sang, 'Blue Suede Shoes' and 'All Shook Up' and the crowd loved it." Soon Green had a three-piece combo called "The Best of Everything" and was performing his trademark "The Tom Green Show" at Olympic Lanes five nights a week. The news of Elvis Presley's death in 1977 hit Green hard. "I had a show that night, and there were TV cameras there," he said. "The place was packed." He went onstage, talking about how sad he was at Presley's death. Then he sang "Don't Be Cruel" and left. Green went to Memphis to try to attend the funeral. He first decided not to do his show anymore, saying he did not want to be part of the commercialization following Presley's death. The sudden rash of bad impersonators changed his mind. "I decided to call my show 'A Dedication to Elvis,' " he said. "I wanted to present him in the manner to which he should be remembered." Green considered himself a cover artist rather than an impersonator. Green's voice was similar to Presley's, but after his first years as an entertainer he didn't try to sound like Presley or to imitate him on stage. "Tom did have a pretty good instrument," said Dave Tianen, Journal Sentinel pop music critic, of Green's voice. Green also performed with the Jordanaires, the backup group that earlier did vocals for Presley. "Tom had a phenomenal concert here Jan. 6," said Tim Brady of Serb Hall. "It was his annual Elvis Birthday Bash here. He had 670 people in the house. It's his gig, but he brought other Elvis impersonators in, too." Green was already booked at Serb Hall for an August date and again next January. "He was the first," said Joe LuDan, a friend and fan, of Green's role as an Elvis performer here. "The city loses a good friend and a great entertainer and vocalist." Thanks to his father, Green came to admire classical singers, too. In 1987, he decided to stop doing Elvis and try other music. In 1988, he won a spot as an unpaid member of the Bel Canto Chorus. The next year, he resumed his show, saying that the Bel Canto had "rejuvenated my spirit for performing." Green came to merge some of those musical influences. He sang classical numbers during his show, then doing the same Italian arias as Elvis might have done them. Green also won his share of WAMIs, the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards. And Green never again sang on the anniversary of the King's death. "For me and a lot of other Elvis fans, that is another day that the music died," he would say.

It is interesting to note that
between 1960-1969 Elvis point total was 6232
to the Beatles 5964 for the same period.
Points are awarded by the author using the following formula:
each artist's charted records are awarded points based on their highest position
    #1 = 100 points
    #2 = 99 point
    #3 = 98 points etc.
Bonus points are awarded in the following manner
based on the records highest charted #
    #1-5 = 25pts
    #6-10 = 20pts
    #11-20 = 15pts,
    #21-30 = 10pts
    and #31-40 = 5pts
    TOTAL CHARTED SINGLES
    ELVIS = 149
    Beatles = 69
    TOTAL WEEKS AT #1
    ELVIS = 80
    Beatles = 59
So what does all this mean - you can quote any
statistic to illustrate a point fo view but
overall comparing the 7 year peak period of both
artists the Beatles have a slim lead of 4
number 1's and 2 top tens more than Elvis,
but Elvis had 42 top twenty hits, 3 more than
    the Beatles.
To get an accurate picture you must convert
    the chart activity to a % -
Elvis released 31 singles between 1956-1963 making available 62 songs for possible
chart action - he charted 67.7% of his released singles between 1956-1962
The Beatles released 41 singles between 1964-1970 making available 82 songs for
possible chart action - they charted 47.5% of their released
    singles between 1964-1970.
This does indicate that Elvis does top the Beatles in terms of chart activity when
    comparing their peak years.
Overall chart single history - Elvis wins hands down with the
    following chart success since 1962
(and yes the Beatles continued to chart after 1970)
    Elvis 1963-1986 = 26 top twenty singles
    Beatles 1971-1986 = 2 top twenty singles
    Elvis 1963-1986 = 8 Top Ten
    Beatles 1971-1986 = 1 Top Ten
    Elvis 1963-1986 = 1 number one
    Beatles 1971-1986 = 0 number one
Elvis released 80 singles between 1963-1986
    Beatles relesed 24 singles between 1971 - 1986
So between 1963-1986 Elvis charted 32.5%
of his single releases and the Beatles charted
    8% of theirs.

On July 20-25 and December 10-16 1973, Elvis Presley recorded 29 songs at Stax studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Visitors taking a tour of the famous 'STAX' studio were able to see a small display
featuring the album covers featuring the recordings and a Karate gi which he wore
    during one of the sessions.
But now, 'STAX' officials have effectively erased Elvis from it's history.
The display is gone and Elvis is no longer mentioned during the studio tour.
Anyone who does not already know, would have no idea Elvis ever stepped
foot in the studio and recorded some great music. You cannot even find
a single Elvis CD, picture or piece of memorabilia in the Stax gift shop.
When asked about this, a Stax staff member commented; "Memphis is focussed on
Elvis, but we want to show the world that Stax was more than the studio where he
recorded. Stax is about soul. That's our story."
When asked if Elvis would be re-instated into the Stax history, the answer was a
    simple a resounding "no".

In 1949 the Pacific War Memorial Commision
was created. One of its goals became the
building of a memorial in the waters above
the wreckage of the USS Arizona.
After nearly a decade the commision
was finally able to begin construction of
the memorial, realising their only problem
was raising the money to build it.
That's where the Colonel, Tom Parker,
jumped on the bandwagon by offering the
commision his help by staging an Elvis
concert as a benefit for the project.
    Elvis' benefit would raise nearly
$ 65.000 for the memorial building fund.
All proceeds went directly to the project,
without anything held for expenses. Even the
Colonel and Elvis had to buy a ticket
to get into the show! In 1962 the memorial
was finished & was dedicated on Memorial Day.
Since then, the USS Arizona Memorial has become one
of the most visited sites in Hawaii.
